I spent years studying stories.
Though literature, language, research and eventually a PhD in English Language, I became fascinated by the ways people make meaning of the world around them -- through words, family, memory, place, and the things they create.
Eventually, I realized that the stories that captivated me most weren't only found in books. They were unfolding around me every day: in family kitchens, on Vancouver Island farms, in small businesses, and beautiful places along the coast.
Photography became another way of discovering and telling those stories.
My shooting style

One time, I asked my clients to sum up my photography style, and they said: colourful, soft, and kind. I think they nailed it.
In a documentary-style way, I capture natural, authentic moments—whether it’s a family laughing in the garden, a farm animal exploring the pasture, or a handcrafted product in its perfect light. I know it can feel a little awkward with a camera pointed at you, so I provide gentle guidance and playful prompts—think tickles, snuggles, big bear hugs, and games! These help you forget the camera, tune into the moment, and focus on each other.
Of course, if you’d like some posed images, I can mix those in too—perfect for holiday cards, branding shots, or capturing a polished look alongside all the candid magic.
A Fresh Chapter: A New Business Name
I’m excited to share that I’m updating my business name to reflect my married last name, Keeling! While my photography and branding work remains the same—bringing authenticity, warmth, and beauty to farms, families, and small businesses—this change feels like a natural next step in my journey.
Everything you’ve come to know and love about my work will continue under this new name, and I can’t wait to keep capturing the stories, personalities, and moments that make life so special.

A testimonial
We used Dorota for our family photos and got beautiful images that we treasure. Can’t recommend her enough!
